  • Artist – Jillian Herrigel

Celebration Opens Sunday 4pm with Reception I paint slightly off-key and outside the lines — on purpose. I grew up exploring the coastal villages of England and later fell for the rugged coast of Maine, and that shoreline finds its way into everything I make. I’m not interested in copying what I see. I use unexpected color, shape, and line to reinterpret landscapes, seascapes, buildings, and animals — a little like Billie Holiday bending a melody. My paintings are a celebration of color, curiosity, and [...]

I find watercolor to [...]

  • Artist – Molly O’Day

Celebration Opens Sunday 4pm with Reception My art has no rhyme or reason when I begin; oftentimes a conversation or a memory will trigger a spark to paint, and more often I just feel like mixing acrylics. I love chunking colors on canvas and then overthinking the little lineS while reminding myself to not take it too seriously... or anything else for that matter! All members of the Club know Molly as an integral part of the successful management of the Club.

  • Speaker – Lisa Borders, Last Night at the Disco

The Making of a Novel: Last Night at the Disco Lisa Borders' third novel, the dark comedy Last Night at the Disco, is set largely in 1977 and narrated by a New Jersey junior high school teacher who spends her weekends at Studio 54. There, she discovers two musicians who become among the most influential artists of the 1980s – and decades later, having burned bridges with them both, she tells her story in hopes of securing her rightful place in rock ‘n’ roll history. Lisa's [...]

  • Speaker – Michael Lowenthal, Place Envy: In Search of Belonging

Belonging isn’t always something we inherit. It’s something we search for and, hopefully, find. Author Michael Lowenthal will read from and discuss his new essay collection, Place Envy, which traces a lifelong search for identity, queer lineage, and connection across cultures, histories, and the self. Through journeys that span continents and communities, Lowenthal explores what it means to feel rooted—or unmoored—and how storytelling can bring us closer to truth.   Michael Lowenthal is the author of the novels The Same Embrace, Avoidance, Charity Girl, and [...]
