  • Artist – Robert Cooper

Robert has spent 30 years as digital product designer in Arlington, VA.  He is a life-long seasonal resident of Phippsburg in the process of becoming a year-round community member. He is a fisherman and boating enthusiast who now focuses on painting scenes of Maine's coastline.   This summer will be the third time Robert has exhibited at the Club. His first show was in 2004, possibly the first time SPC began exhibiting. Robert and his wife, Mary, have been members for the last twenty plus years.

  • Artist – Joanne Thompson

Joanne Thompson has been fascinated by watercolor painting since she was a young adult. Her great grandmother was a watercolor painter, and Joanne grew up surrounded by her paintings. While living in London in the 1990’s, Joanne studied at various art schools with several instructors. Joanne has exhibited her paintings in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts, as well as in several juried shows. “After painting them for years, I continue to be intrigued with flowers. I find watercolor to be the perfect medium because it [...]

  • Artist – Molly O’Day

My art has no rhyme or reason when I begin; oftentimes a conversation or a memory will trigger a spark to paint, and more often I just feel like mixing acrylics. I love chunking colors on canvas and then overthinking the little lineS while reminding myself to not take it too seriously... or anything else for that matter! All members of the Club know Molly as an integral part of the successful management of the Club. As Roe’s assistant, she helps the machine run smoothly.

  • Artist – Stefan Pastuhov

Stefan Pastuhov grew up in Harvard, Massachusetts. He graduated from the American School in Paris and returned to the U.S., where he received his BFA from Tufts University and the Boston School Museum School of Fine Arts. Stefan moved to Maine in 1984. Stefan is a plein-air painter who loves the outdoors and paints on location year-round. It’s the beauty of changing light and seasons that appeal to him. He counts among his strongest influences: John Singer Sargent, Emile Gruppe, Edgar Paine, and Aldro T. [...]

  • Artist – Katie Blair St. John

After a lifetime interest in history of art, Katie Blair started puttering with paint in retirement. Twelve years later she is a self-taught landscape artist working in oil and pastel. She regularly paints collaboratively with artist friends who act as motivators and mentors. The coast of Maine and marshes of Massachusetts are her inspiration.

  • Artist – Jillian Herrigel

I paint slightly off-key and outside the lines — on purpose. I grew up exploring the coastal villages of England and later fell for the rugged coast of Maine, and that shoreline finds its way into everything I make. I’m not interested in copying what I see. I use unexpected color, shape, and line to reinterpret landscapes, seascapes, buildings, and animals — a little like Billie Holiday bending a melody. My paintings are a celebration of color, curiosity, and the joyful imperfection of the world.
