After thoughtful discussion about the current Covid situation, the Board is pleased to confirm that the 125th Anniversary celebration is ON for Saturday August 6th with some minor changes to plan to accommodate the circumstances. While evidence suggests the recent outbreak is under control, we’re still in a higher risk environment than we’d all like and the Board feels that some basic Covid-friendly adaptations to the evening will allow us all to enjoy a special night more safely and care-free:

The Club Board met this evening to reassess the curtailed service policy put in place last week. As most of you are aware, the particular variant currently manifesting itself in Maine (and elsewhere) is highly contagious but not as likely to lead to hospitalization. Unfortunately, there has been a mid-sized outbreak of the highly contagious Covid BA.5 variant in the Small Point Community. The Club Board, for this reason, is curtailing services in order to address this situation. We have made the decision to take the following actions for the next five days (July 20 – 25):

• ROOM RESERVATIONS for members and guests through July 27 are welcome, but they will be asked to take a Rapid Antigen test before they arrive.
• ALL SCHEDULED EVENTS have been canceled for the next five days.

Due to the current mini-outbreak of Covid in our Community, the Small Point Club Board has decided it best to cancel all events scheduled for the week of July 18 (other than regular dining for lunch and dinner and guests staying at the Club) in order to contain the spread.

Art in Bloom has been cancelled, but we hope to reschedule Ladies’ Night at a later time.

While You’ve Been Away…..

In collaboration with SPOC, we replaced the stairs and walkway to the beach. Shout out to the Jayne family for kindly allowing Small Pointers to access the beach across their land.

We upgraded the kitchen, adding a new dishwasher stainless-steel table, and dryer, replacing ceiling tile, and stainless steel table, and other amenities.

We made repairs to the north roof, decks, and railings, and replaced two screen doors.

Accompanied by a sea breeze and the wood thrush songs, twenty-two Small Point golfers turned out for the Club’s second annual Scramble. There was a tie for first place, and all enjoyed a chance to play golf, see friends, and enjoy a beautiful Maine afternoon.
