SUMMARY:Artist - Jillian Herrigel
DESCRIPTION:Celebration Opens Sunday 4pm with Reception \nI paint slightly off-key and outside the lines — on purpose. I grew up exploring the coastal villages of England and later fell for the rugged coast of Maine\, and that shoreline finds its way into everything I make. I’m not interested in copying what I see. I use unexpected color\, shape\, and line to reinterpret landscapes\, seascapes\, buildings\, and animals — a little like Billie Holiday bending a melody. My paintings are a celebration of color\, curiosity\, and the joyful imperfection of the world. \n

SUMMARY:Artist - Joanne Thompson
DESCRIPTION:Celebration Opens Sunday 4pm with Reception \nJoanne Thompson has been fascinated by watercolor painting since she was a young adult. Her great grandmother was a watercolor painter\, and Joanne grew up surrounded by her paintings. While living in London in the 1990’s\, Joanne studied at various art schools with several instructors. Joanne has exhibited her paintings in New Hampshire\, Maine and Massachusetts\, as well as in several juried shows. \n“After painting them for years\, I continue to be intrigued with flowers. I find watercolor to be the perfect medium because it allows you to capture the luminescence\, softness and texture of the flower. \nJoanne lives with her husband in Phippsburg in an historic brick house built in 1774. \nThis will be Joanne’s first time exhibiting at the Club. Her son\, Nicholas Roose\, is a member and her cousin Dar and Barbara Gillett are or were also members. Long ago\, her grandfather\, Charles Fiske\, was a member as well.

SUMMARY:Club Septic Project - July 13th + 20th
DESCRIPTION:The SPC Board will be hosting open sessions for all Small Point and Club Members on: \nMonday\, July 13th* and Monday\, July 20th*\n4:30 – 5:30 pm\n \n(Note: Club is closed for dinner on Mondays) \nCome and learn about the Club’s septic field project and the hopes of the Club to continue to serve the community for years to come. \n\n\nThe Small Point Club Board has respectfully submitted a proposal for consideration to the SPA Board. After formal review\, the SPA Board has approved for the Club to share this proposal with the wider Small Point community. Ultimately this proposal will be voted on electronically by SPA Shareholders after the August 3rd Community Meeting. \nThis proposal outlines a long-term solution to address the increasing vulnerability of the Club’s existing septic field and to ensure the continued operation of an important community asset. \nOver the past twenty-six years\, the current septic system has served the Club reliably and with relatively few operational issues. However\, changing coastal conditions and increasingly severe storm events – most notably the January 2024 storms – have underscored the vulnerability of the existing field and accelerated the need for a more resilient long-term solution. That paired with a limited property footprint has required creative thinking from many Small Pointers and outside perspectives. \nAfter evaluating multiple alternatives over several years\, consulting with engineers\, contractors\, neighboring property owners\, and community stakeholders\, the Club Board believes that relocating the septic field beneath the SPA parking area adjacent to the Club tennis courts represents the most sustainable and environmentally responsible path forward. \nAny final project implementation remains subject to SPA Board & SPA shareholder approval and all required regulatory permits. \n*Note the Club will be closed for dinner on Monday’s \n\nIf you can’t make it\, reach out to Speedy Eberle with any questions:\nfrancis.eberle@gmail.com\nPlease be sure to VOTE in August!

SUMMARY:Artist - Molly O'Day
DESCRIPTION:Celebration Opens Sunday 4pm with Reception \nMy art has no rhyme or reason when I begin; oftentimes a conversation or a memory will trigger a spark to paint\, and more often I just feel like mixing acrylics. I love chunking colors on canvas and then overthinking the little lineS while reminding myself to not take it too seriously… or anything else for that matter! \nAll members of the Club know Molly as an integral part of the successful management of the Club. \n \n

SUMMARY:Speaker - Mary Harding “Hidden in Plain Sight - My Lichen Journey”
DESCRIPTION:“Hidden in Plain Sight – My Lichen Journey” \nMary Harding completed the Maine Master Naturalist program in 2022 which was held at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm. After completing the program\, she decided to take a closer look at lichen and continued an independent study of the subject as well as taking two courses at the Eagle Hill Institute in Steuben\, Maine. As a Maine Master Naturalist she enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the topic with community groups and as a Naturalist Volunteer with the Appalachian Mountain Club. \nDiscover the hidden world of lichens—nature’s remarkable symbiotic partnerships—where fungi and algae join forces to survive in some of the harshest environments on Earth\, and in familiar places nearby. This lecture unveils their surprising roles in ecosystems\, from creating soil to acting as bio-indicators of air quality. Perhaps you think a lecture about lichen might be a bit dull\, but people who have been exposed to the subject say their time in nature has been transformative after learning more. Mary’s talk is both informative and insightful with bits of humor. Your walks where lichen grows will never be the same! \n
