DESCRIPTION:Meadow Dibble\, Ph.D. is a writer\, organizer\, and public memory advocate who has been facilitating complex\, searching conversations about modes of historical recovery while developing sustained local engagement processes aimed at surfacing truth\, fostering healing\, and achieving justice. She is Founding Executive Director of Atlantic Black Box. \nOriginally from Cape Cod\, Meadow lived for six years on Senegal’s Cape Verde peninsula\, where she published a cultural magazine from 1996–2000 and coordinated foreign study programs. She received her Ph.D. from Brown University’s Department of French Studies and taught at Colby College from 2005–08. From 2019–2023\, Meadow served as Visiting Scholar at Brown University’s Simmons Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice. \nIn 2022-2023\, she served as Co-Lead on the Place Justice initiative\, carried out in partnership with the Permanent Commission on the Status of Racial\, Indigenous\, and Tribal Populations.

She is an environmental attorney with expertise in the Clean Water Act and other environmental laws\, and worked as a Senior Attorney with the Conservation Law Foundation before moving to Maine. Her leadership roles in the Maine marine community have included Co-Founder of the Maine Ocean Climate Collaborative\, member of the Maine Climate Council’s Coastal and Marine Working Group\, and member of the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership executive committee. \nIvy will be speaking about her role as Baykeeper\, including her work with Maine’s Legislature and state agencies\, FoCB’s water quality monitoring program\, and current efforts regarding stormwater pollution and PFAS monitoring in partnership with Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences.

After completing the program\, she decided to take a closer look at lichen and continued an independent study of the subject as well as taking two courses at the Eagle Hill Institute in Steuben\, Maine. As a Maine Master Naturalist she enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for the topic with community groups and as a Naturalist Volunteer with the Appalachian Mountain Club. \nDiscover the hidden world of lichens—nature’s remarkable symbiotic partnerships—where fungi and algae join forces to survive in some of the harshest environments on Earth\, and in familiar places nearby. This lecture unveils their surprising roles in ecosystems\, from creating soil to acting as bio-indicators of air quality. Perhaps you think a lecture about lichen might be a bit dull\, but people who have been exposed to the subject say their time in nature has been transformative after learning more. Their talk will center on their career journey that led to the ownership of the cinema and their filmmaking careers\, including their upcoming Maine film. \n  \n\nLindie started her career in television\, then graduated to feature films. In 2007\, she decided to go back to school for Nursing. Lindie’s nursing career included building the first Homeless Clinics in Los Angeles\, working with Hospice\, Field Nursing\, as well as working on movies as a Set Nurse. She is an independent film Producer and Screenwriter. \nSean is an award-winning filmmaker and producing graduate of the American Film Institute. He has over thirty movies to his credit\, including blockbusters Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace\, Sin City\, Hellboy\, and Spy Kids 3D. Sean recently worked for the global VFX company Framestore in Montreal\, as a Visual Effects Line Producer on movies including The Suicide Squad\, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore\, and Paddington in Peru\, to name a few. Sean has Directed and Produced several independent feature films.
