SUMMARY:Juliet Kirkham Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:I am a self-taught artist\, working out of my studio in Berkeley\, California. I have always been drawn to watercolor\, but learning to use this mercurial and mischievous medium is a recent exploration. I am constantly thrilled with the interplay between water and pigment and the individualistic and often erratic behaviors of watercolor paints. For me\, painting is a practice not a perfect – a constant way to witness and delight in the everyday world around us. \nArtist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Lasell Family Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:According to a history written about the Whitin machine works\, the Lasells of Whitinsville were “warm-hearted\, sensitive\, artistic people\, socially gracious and fond of good living.” Although the first two of these characteristics were not ideal qualifications for running a machinery business in central Massachusetts\, that is what they did\, until textile work went south in the middle of the last century. \nThey supported promising artists and they appreciated art in their own family. Various members of the family have had the opportunity to be “socially gracious” and “fond of good living” here in Small Point for over a century of summers. \nThe “artistic” trait is a one that happily persists. It was encouraged by pictures that hung on the walls of Happy’s house when the current residents were kids. Some of that house art and some by living family members are in this show. \n  \nArtist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time.

SUMMARY:Hodie Hazard and Ned Motley Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:Artist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time. \n  \n \nHODIE HAZARD\n \nIt’s been the highest pleasure of my artistic life to start working with Ned\, learning to throw\, hand build and glaze pots.  While we’re each doing our own pieces\, we’re also experimenting with co-creation – my glazing on his beautiful forms.  I highly recommend a brand new journey in your 70’s. \n  \n  \n \nNED MOTLEY  \nI’m inspired and influenced so much by the images and patterns of the natural world that surrounds me. And to me\, there is no other abstract artist who compares to our Mother Nature. I love the control and predictably of throwing symmetrical pottery on a wheel\, and then I get to be more spontaneous and\nchaotic in my glazing technique. Sort of a reflection of what’s really going on inside my brain! \n  \n \n \n

SUMMARY:Katie Blair St John Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:Katie Blair St John has spent every summer of her life in Small Point\, breathing in the colors\, composition and atmosphere. \nA great admirer of art from Italian Renaissance to Contemporary\, she foolishly was intimidated from taking painting classes because other students appeared to already know what they were doing. \nLocal painters\, Frank and Phyllis Mason and Mary Ester MacFadyen became her inspiration. In the 50’s and 60’s she’d watch them pick up an old\, wooden shingle and dash off a quick landscape while supposedly watching her gang of cousins swim or climb the rocks. The children felt very special if asked to sit for a portrait. These much loved paintings can be found all over Small Point. \nDuring the winter Katie Blair lives on the Great Marsh in Ipswich\, Massachusetts where there’s a thriving art scene. On her 60th birthday\, almost done with the rigors of work and raising 4 boys\, she began to paint\, first by herself then with artist friends. Now\, 10 years later\, she still paints two days a week Plein Air or from photographs in a studio with these artist mentors. She works in oil and pastel. \nContact info: katieblairstjohn@gmail.com \nArtist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time. \n   \n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Jillian Herrigel Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:My work reflects my intuitive reaction to a scene or idea and involves combining color\, shape and line until the image feels complete. \nMy hope is that the viewer will bring his or her own interpretation or reaction to the piece. Not every creation connects to its original idea\, often different concepts and representations emerge. \nArtist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time.

SUMMARY:Nick Adams Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:Nick Adams is a North Salem based artist and graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago. \nUsing stream of consciousness as a method of representation\, Adams creates work that incorporates both abstract and representational tones. With a nod to the equestrian world beloved in New England\, select pieces carefully embody the grace and spirit of horseback riding while seamlessly blending the region’s cultural tapestry with the artist’s distinctive touch. \nArtist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time. \n

SUMMARY:Rachel Houlihan Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:“I am an artist based in Camden\, Maine. Oil painting has been a wonderful way to explore and capture so many of the beautiful places I have had a chance to explore. In my paintings I am trying to capturing the feeling of being in nature and experimenting with the creative use of color. My love for the outdoors started when I was growing up on a small farm – and continues now with travel\, lots of gardening\, long walks with my dog and horseback riding. I am honored to be able to show my work at the historic Small Point Club – I hope that you enjoy my paintings.”  ~Rachel Houlihan \n\n\n\n\nArtist work is exhibited throughout the week and is available for purchase during that time.

SUMMARY:Tim Mitchell Art Show Opening
DESCRIPTION:Tim Mitchell will kick off the Club’s season of weekly community art shows with a series of limited-edition photographs. Tim is generously donating all profits back to the Small Point Club. \nArt Show June 30 – July 7 \nContrary to what his parents have told people for years\, Tim is not a professional photographer. \nHe is passionate about taking pictures and has been shooting since an early age. Tim studied photography at The Maine Photographic Workshops in the late ’70s and moved on to NYC where he worked in the B&W labs at Time\, Inc. He was fortunate to meet numerous professional photographers for whom he started assisting and traveling the globe. \nAssisting segued into location scouting and from there he became a producer for advertising photographers – traveling further and more often. After reaching a peak of 200 days a year on the road\, Tim decided he’d had enough and started representing commercial European photographers and CGI/3D studios within the USA. \nNearing 45 years in the business\, Tim is looking forward to retiring in the next “couple of years” and sharing more time with his wife Liz and their English Cocker pups. \n
